ABSTRACT
The management of cystic astrocytoma is hampered by lack of documentation of the natural history of these lesion and by lack of the evaluation of the treatment, but cystic supratentorial gliomas have the same good prognosis as they occur in the cerebellum. The authors experienced a case of cystic supratentorial astrocytoma, located on right fronto-parieto-temporal lobe and that diagnosed by CT scan and confirmed by histological examination. The lesion showed a large solitary cyst and mural nodule with marked enhancement on computerized tomography. The patient underwent the osteoplastic craniotomy, aspiration of cystic fluid, subtotal removal of mural nodule, and then radiotherapy and chemotherapy. We reviewed the literature of cystic supratentorial glioma and presented our case with treatment.
Key Words: Cystic supratentorial astrocytoma; Mural nodule; Radiotherapy; CT scan
